The heart of this afternoon is Kirtan Meditation – an easy, powerful and enjoyable practice of hearing and chanting sacred Vedic mantras. This form of meditation has been practiced by saints and sages since ancient times and is the recommended process for our modern age to bring about the joyful state of self-realisation. Embarking on this wonderful journey within also known as self-discovery, is a gradual purification where we experience ourselves as the enteral spirit soul within the body and uncover our loving relationship with the Supreme Soul.

Even with a small amount of the practice of Kirtan meditation, a person can experience relief from worries, anxieties and worldly concerns and gradually become more conscious of and immersed in a higher spiritual happiness and inner peacefulness.

Though traditionally accompanied with Indian instruments, Kirtan can be transported beautifully to contemporary, western musical styles without losing its genuine spiritual authenticity. Participants are made aware that rather than being a type of performance, Kirtan is a journey of self discovery.

The Kirtan leader/s weave together mantras and melodies, and the gathering of people respond vocally to the Kirtan leader; they can clap, swaying and dance if they like. Kirtan can be simultaneously meditative yet vibrant and fun, or perhaps more soothing, depending on the style of music throughout the evening.
